• A Weekend Staycation at Pop Beach Club Ilashe

A while ago, my dear friend and fellow blogger, Mercy of thatgiftedgirl and I, set out on a spontaneous visit to Pop Beach Club Ilashe.

    Pop Beach Club Ilashe

Pop Beach Club is a chain of Bohemian-styled private beaches. To the best of my knowledge, I know they have one at Ilashe and another at Tarkwa bay. They run a membership program and members are guaranteed a cabana at the club, also have free access to the club houses and concierge services. To find out more visit Pop Beach Membership. The beach house is also available for hire, and I daresay it’s the perfect spot for a beach house party, an intimate beach wedding or even a girls trip. Transportation To Pop Beach Club, Ilashe.

We got a boat charter from the jetty at Ikoyi. After plenty haggling, we got a boat for less than 10,000 Naira to Mama Mukaila Jetty, Ilashe. Our boat ride lasted for about 45 minutes and it was the scariest thing ever because we ran out of fuel and had to wait for a rescue boat to come fuel ours right there on the water. I later learnt this was a common occurrence. For safety reasons, I advise you go with the speed boat option the pop beach crew provides, it costs 50,000 Naira per trip.

Things to do at Pop Beach Ilashe.

    Make New Friends.

We arrived safely and proceeded to take some amazing pictures at the beach front. After which we joined the on-going pool party. It was a chilled and fun party. It was easy to strike conversations and make friends. Pop Beach Club delivered on it’s promise of networking.

    Enjoy the Night

We choose to sleep outside on the cabana instead of the rooms and we made the best choice as we stayed up, chatting and enjoying the cool night air until we fell asleep.

    Take Long Walks

The next morning, we set out on a walk around the beach front. We also learnt that one could walk along the Ilashe beach all the way down to Tarkwa Bay. So, if you visit in groups, this is definitely a fun activity to try.

    Watch or Go Fishing.

Depending on your risk appetite, you can choose to either watch the local fishermen set out on their early morning fishing trip or you can approach them and indicate your interest to go fishing with them. We settle for the former and I have zero regrets because the waves were really strong and I couldn’t for the life of me embark on such an adventure knowing that I can’t swim well. I strongly advise that if you don’t know how to swim professionally, avoid going into the water.

Eat Breakfast at the Beach House.

We had eggs and bread for breakfast and Mercy and I, couldn’t stop talking about how well spiced and moist the scrambled eggs were.

Now to my favourite thing to do at Pop Beach Club – HAVE A POOL PARTY. The pool at Pop Beach Ilashe is a gorgeous site to behold and it’s the perfect spot for a fun pool party. If you doubt me, check out the photos below.

Overall, I had an amazing time at Pop Beach Ilashe. I tried Craft Beer for the first time, thanks to the good people of Bature Brewery.

I returned to Lagos feeling happier and slightly disappointed to be back to the hustle and bustle of this city.
