You can not have all the 365 days in the year fun-filled. What matters the most is that when the bad days come, you know how to handle it and bounce back to your normal self.
Bad days are inevitable.
Having a bad day during this COVID-19 epidemic is extremely dreadful. You can not go to your favourite restaurant, spa, or event go to work to have peace of mind. It is either all the fun places are temporarily closed or they are overly expensive because they are trying to make profits as a business that is open. So you either, spend mad money to relax or you have to find a solution by staying at home.
If you are feeling down, or if you are just having an overall bad day, this is for you. And for me. Because we all have bad days.
That being said, I created a list of 10 tips that would help you get over bad days and how you can also do fun and creative stuff even during these difficult times.
These are my go-to things to do and I encourage you to share yours below – I would love to know 😊
10 Ways to Get Over a Bad Day
Watch YouTube Videos: One of the reasons why you might not be having a good day is because your mind is too stressed. YouTube is an unending tunnel of videos which would help take your mind of how stressed it is.
There are several web series such as Skinny Girls in Transit and comedy videos such as Jimmy Fallon’s show on YouTube that will help you unwind from your busy day. So, whatever it is you are going to watch on YouTube when you are feeling down, it would be 100% worth it.
Pen Down Your Feelings
Journaling is a form of letting out your feelings. Putting your thoughts and feelings into paper takes some weight off your shoulders and helps you clarify what’s truly making the day bad for you.
You have to be willing to dig deep into how you’re feeling and write it all down – without feelings of judgment towards yourself or being scared that someone would read it.
Because when you put the fear of someone reading your journal, you would hold yourself back from freely expressing yourself. Penning down your feelings can be a really therapeutic experience.
Listen to Fun and Energizing Songs: One way to feel better when you are having bad days is via listening to good music. Go ahead and sing and dance along, it doesn’t matter if your dancing skills are non-existent.
Move your body while you are blasting fun music from your phone or stereo. This works perfectly for me! Music is said to increase joy so make a playlist with your favourite songs that put you in a good mood and dance it out when no one’s watching.
Visit Your Favourite Blog:
If you have blogs that you haven’t visited or read their posts for some time, this would be the time to catch up on their posts. Get comfortable on your bed while getting lost on reading blogs. I can share a few of my favourite blogs in another post, in case you are interested.
Reading blog posts is similar to reading your favourite book. You get to read the author’s thoughts and there are pictures attached to carry you along with the post. Check out some amazing blogs for 20 somethings.
Pray About Your Day: When I notice that my day is going terrible and there is nothing I can do about it again, I just pray about the remaining hours of the day.
I have learnt that I can not really do anything about the situation so to ensure that it still turns out perfect, I say a prayer to God who I believe is in control of the day.
Praying to me is like talking to a friend who is so powerful and can alter the outcome of a day. You can pray to God, the universe, or whatever you believe in and commit your bad day to His hands. Trust and faith are essential behind-the-scenes elements of prayers. So when you pray, just trust that your day would get better. If you are a Christain, advice you try the You-Version Bible app.
Relax by Engaging in Cooking/Baking
When you are having a bad day and you feel you have spent too much time in front of your phone screen trying to feel better.
Get up and make a delicious treat for yourself.
Cooking, baking and learning new recipes always uplifts my spirit. Baking makes my mind focus on something other than what is affecting my mood. Plus, after baking, the end product always makes you feel good about yourself. Yes, baking is therapeutic, according to Bake star Mary Berry.
Talk To A Friend: It is always advisable to reach out to a friend. Sometimes, you just need to talk it out — you should know your friends that genuinely care about you, and don’t just want to hear “amebo“.
Baring it all to a trusted friend works wonders, don’t be scared to break down and just let out all your fears.
Sleep it Off: Take a nap. This keeps you feeling healthy and well rejuvenated. Top it up with a cold drink and find positive and fun things to do for the remaining hours of the day.
You have to remind yourself even if it is by reading inspirational quotes that a couple of bad moments can not affect the remaining hours of your day.
Make Tik Tok Videos
Making Tik-Tok videos is the new trend. Do you want to know the reason why everyone is hopping on this trend? It is fun and very relaxing.
When you have tried everything to brighten up your day and it fails, lean on your sense of humour and make a Tik Tok video.
Exercise: The cool thing about exercise is that it releases endorphins which will help you feel better. It can be any form of exercise, just pick something that you enjoy and do it for as long as you want. For me, it has been yoga.
I have been following the #30daysYogawithEemi Challenge on Twitter and it has helped me relax, focus on the present moment and get some exercise done at the same time.
I hope you found these 10 awesome tips on how to improve your day helpful.
Have you had bad days recently? I’ll love to know some of the activities you do when you are having a bad day?
Good one Rachael, I personally have a playlist of hard inspirational songs and they cut across gospel, hiphop and afrobeat. And some of bad days happen because of high levels of stress and this is where sleep comes in, works everytime!!!
