Apps for blogging aren’t new, they have been in the market for a pretty long time but the difficulty lies in knowing those that are actually very useful to your blogging career progression and won’t just end up taking up space on your mobile device.
For a while, I ran this blog (www.giftcollins.com) using just my mobile phone as my laptop crashed. At first, I thought I won’t thrive blogging with just my phone but after trials and errors with different blogging apps, I eventually found the best blogging apps that efficiently help you to blog.
Sharing this blog post has been a long time coming and I am glad I finally did. To define the uses of these apps better, I have classified them into categories, so enjoy.
Blogging Apps For Writing and Publishing.
WordPress App
What would I do without the very user-friendly WordPress app for blogging? I use this app for every darn thing! from writing to publishing, checking stats and much more. If your blog is WordPress based, you can definitely attest that this app is the holy grail.
It’s an added plus that the WordPress app comes with an inbuilt reader which gives you access to the contents of the WordPress blogs you follow. Talk about multi-functionality! So yes, WordPress mobile is an essential app for bloggers.

Blogger App
The opposite of the WordPress app for blogging. The blogger app is owned by Google and is an overall management app for blogs based on Blogger/Blogspot. You can write, edit, publish and track your website all from the app.
Recorder App
For the days when I feel like letting my thumbs take a break before I develop “texting thumb,” I turn to recorder apps, my favourite being the inbuilt recorder app that comes with my Samsung mobile device.
The recorder app has been very helpful when it comes to content creation. Being a very spontaneous person can be both a blessing and a curse- A blessing because ideas/things come easily to me and a curse because the same ideas fly out the very next minute. this can be totally frustrating.
However, I’ve learnt to take control of my journaling and writing down ideas as soon as they hit but there are days when I tire of my journals and just simply want to talk not type. Here’s where you’ll find the bottled magic that’s called a recorder app.
Evernote
An absolutely amazing app that makes blogging easier! If you are a fan of keeping notes, lists and all, then this is for you. Actually, scratch that, this is for everyone who wants to live a documented life. The Evernote is my favourite out of most notes apps, I love how it synchronises between desktop and mobile seamlessly. I also like how to organise and user-friendly it is.

Grammarly
The English language is no man’s friend, I repeat- English is no one’s friend. Even if you’ve got a degree in English and think you are above errors, excuse me, but have you met everyone’s arch-enemy, Mr autocorrect?
The Grammarly keyboard app is one app for blogging that eases the job of editing and proofreading, as a professional freelance editor and proofreader, I will tell you for free that I hate having to proofread and edit my own works, so having an app which picks out the grammatical errors is a step in the right direction to help my blogging career thrive.
We don’t want blog visitors to stumble upon a typo-filled post now, or do we? For me, that’s a huge NO! would hate for any visitor to get such poor user experience. So, yes to using the Grammarly app/keyboard/extensions while writing every blog post.
Apps for Blogging – Planning, Management and Productivity
The best apps for planning your blog contents, saving contents, managing websites and overall productivity apps as a blogger.
Google Sheets & Google Drive
Some of my best apps are from this tech king kong (giant). Google sheet is one app I can’t do without for blogging purposes, I use the google sheets app to plan my monthly blogging calendar. It’s the best I have come up with so far and after planning, I link it up with my google calendar so a girl is forced to stay accountable.
Google Drive, on the other hand, is what I use as cloud storage for most important blogging resources, including but not limited to content calendars, ideas, stock photos, affiliate links etc.
Google Analytics & Google Adsense
One to stay on top of my blog statistics and the other to stay on top of my blog income. Both seemingly minor apps but are the major apps I use to analyse, plan and manage my blog to keep bringing in the bread and butter. I don’t take the goodness these Google apps bring for granted, hence they apps for blogging I considered highly important.
IFTTT & Zapier
Aha, these two got me confused on which should make the list but on a whim, I decided to cut the chase and put them both. If you don’t have one of these two or actually two of these two ( my word), then yo! I don’t know why you are making your life difficult when you can easily automate most processes, save yourself some mental oil and stay at the top of your blogging game.
Both are automation services, unlike IFTTT, Zapier doesn’t have an android app yet, it made this list because it helps one integrate other mobile apps. I use them to automate most functions especially social sharing of blog posts. Truth be told, I have gotten out of several subscriptions based apps because these two have been coming through. What better way can an app aide your blogging career if not to help you save some extra cash?.

Adobe Reader and Adobe Fill & Sign
I use my adobe reader for mostly reading Pdf’s of blogging books, courses and collaboration contracts & agreements. While there are tons of apps that can do this, I prefer Adobe since I can easily use their sister app-Adobe fill & sign to fill forms and sign documents. Totally simplifies the process.
Social Media Apps For Bloggers
“Part of blogging requires staying on top of your social media game” as most people would say. However, I prefer to say “social media is just a means to amplify your blog contents and engage better with blog readers without all the technicalities that come with a website”. Social media is important and my best social media apps for blogging are
- BlogLovin
- Facebook Pages Manager
I use Pinterest majorly for driving traffic and sometimes for blogging inspiration.

Instagram for all it’s visual goodness and to connect with my followers.

BlogLovin which is more of a blog reader than social media but I love how easy it’s interface is for connecting with other blogs.

Twitter, I wasn’t much of a fan before but it has a way of sucking you in and boy, have I been sucked!….. I love twitter because the interaction is easier and less pressure, unlike Instagram.
Not forgetting how a tweet that went viral shot up my blog traffic like crazy. so, yes, twitter works as great as Pinterest in driving blog traffic. The only differences being that twitter traffic is short-spanned while Pinterest is long-lasting. Easily put is twitter gives you traffic as the post trends but after that, it’s gone. But Pinterest post live span is long and months after you pin a post you can still rake in good traffic from it.

Facebook Pages Manager because I can’t for the life of me deal with all that facebook posts, likes and comments notification from having the main facebook app. However, with the facebook pages manager app, I can easily manage and interact on my facebook business pages.

Photos, Editing & Graphics Apps For Blogging
Dealing with photos and creating graphics is an integral part of blogging and these blogging apps make it easier.
Pexels
If you didn’t know Pexels has a mobile app, you are welcome! Pexels is a stock photography site where you can find tons of free licensed photos to use in your blog post. The Pexel app makes blogging easier as with just a click or two, you will get access to a huge library of photos you can use.
SnapSeed & Adobe Lightroom
These two apps are the best mobile apps for photo editing ( to me). On Snapseed, you can do every freaking thing and on lazy days, the lightroom app comes through with it’s easy to use presets.
