• Celebrating #WMHD: A List Of My Favourite Mental Health Resources

    Every 10th of October, the world celebrates mental health. Its history dates back to 1992 when the first mental health day was celebrated.

    Each year is celebrated with a theme and the theme for 2019 is ” Mental health promotion and suicide prevention”

    Mental health has become a major health crisis in today’s world and the need to raise better awareness for mental health has become of great importance.

    As one who is quite particular with practising good mental and self-care, I find myself gradually building up a host of mental health resources and in celebration of world mental health day 2019, I am sharing my favourite mental health resources.

    The aim is to promote mental health by sharing helpful resources on various mental health challenges. This post will be updated frequently to keep abreast with current practises.

    Mental health resources – APPS

    Moodpath– An anxiety and depression app that works well in helping you document your days and track your mood.

    Calm– A meditation app

    Headspace– a meditation app

    What’s Up?– This app uses CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) methods to help you cope with Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Stress and more.

    Rise Up– an amazing app for those suffering from eating disorders and body image issues.

    Happyso– Helps you get better sleep. It also tracks your mood.

    We are more is a health support network app.

    7 cups– Provide you access to community members for emotional support

    Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative– This NGO is one of the best metal health charity organizations in Nigeria. Personally, they were of great help to me when I almost lost it.

    The Mighty– A community of mental health survivors and enthusiast

    Samaritan.org– A Uk based charity, they have an active website and a hotline too.

    Sane.org– they offer counselling services and can be reached via their hotline.

    Olamma Cares- An Autism and mental health advocacy NGO
